The Mystic (The Dark Crystal)

One of my favorite movies growing up was the 'Dark Crystal.' As I got older I learned to appreciate Brian Frouds’ art and own a few books with his artwork. So going through “The Art of the Dark Crystal,” there is an entire section of the Mystics and I just had fun with it and mixed a couple of different outfits, armor, and staff.

Snow White's Poisoned Apple

Materials: Super Sculpty, wire, acrylic paint

This project was for my wife, She wanted a paper-weight for her desk at work and came up with the idea of an apple, but not just any apple, the poison apple from Snow White. She wanted a scene where Snow White is reaching for the apple and the other side the whitch handing the apple over to her , but after many drawings this was best I could come up with to clearly show what is going on

This is a piece I did based on a comic book cover painted by one of my favorite artists, Alex Ross:

I decided to do a different head on my rendition because in reading about this piece I came across the fact that the picture that he used was of him and his wife. So I did the old comic book style of a killer clown look.
